Departures and Arrivals (May 2025)

As the summer session begins, we reflect on the accomplishments of our students and look ahead with excitement to the fresh perspectives and projects that lie ahead.

First, I would like to bid a heartfelt farewell to Ramita Deshmukh and Sri Sahithi Gannamaneedi, who have successfully obtained their M.Sc. degrees. We are confident that great opportunities await them and wish all the very best in their future endeavors!

At the same time, I am excited to welcome to our research group four new students who are bringing unique talents:

Nithin Krishna Krishnappa, an M.Sc. student in Computer Science, will be designing the back-end framework for a multiplayer game in virtual reality that integrates wearable sensors.

Joseph Myers Jr., an M.Sc. student in Occupational Safety and Health Engineering, will investigate the effectiveness of OSHA-approved State Plans in reducing construction-related fatalities.

• Deepak Kumar Nithinyanandan, an M.Sc. student in Data Science, will apply methods from information theory and causal inference to evaluate firearm legislation.

Natalia Pena, a B.Sc. student in Computer Engineering, will explore how social interactions can help motivate individuals with chronic medical conditions to engage in regular physical activity.

Here is to a summer of discovery, creativity, and collaboration!
