PhD student Aayush Chitransh receives firearm suicide prevention fellowship

Although it has been a busy spring semester, we would like to recognize an important achievement by one of our PhD students:

Congratulations to Aayush Chitransh on receiving the 2026 Firearm Suicide Prevention Fellowship from the New Jersey Gun Violence Research Center. The fellowship brings together researchers, practitioners, and trainees dedicated to advancing evidence-based firearm suicide prevention and strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration in this critical area of public health research. This recognition highlights Aayush’s ongoing work examining the impact of policy interventions related to firearm violence prevention.

Aayush’s research on evaluating New Jersey’s Extreme Risk Protection Order law was also recently featured in an article by Evan Koblentz in NJIT News: https://news.njit.edu/njit-engineering-researchers-study-effect-state-gun-removal-law

We are excited to see Aayush continue developing impactful research at the intersection of public health, policy, and technology, and we look forward to the contributions he will make through this fellowship experience.
