PID Lab students present research across multiple spring events
It has been an exciting and productive week for students in the PID Lab, with research presentations spanning several campus events and audiences across academia and industry.
At the AI Exploration Day NJIT-wide event, Aayush Chitransh and Martina Albarelli, co-mentored by Simone Marras, presented their work on using artificial intelligence for quantitative policy evaluation. In addition, Zaid Choudhry and Hana Ighneim shared their algorithms for characterizing movement in stroke telerehabilitation applications.
Zaid and Hana also had the opportunity to present updates on their URI Seed Grant project to an industry board of advisors, providing valuable feedback and perspectives from outside academia.
The week continued with strong student representation at the Dana Knox Showcase. Highlights included:
Avanish Kulkarni, Benjamin Porreca, Dominic Attalienti, and James An, a capstone team co-mentored by Margarita Vinnikov, demonstrating their work on integrating physical object interactions into virtual reality using IMU sensors.
Zaid Choudhry and Hana Ighneim presenting their stroke rehabilitation movement analysis algorithms.
Alfonsus Agapinan, Matthew Pincay, and Shukan Dave showcasing a robotic jackhammer system designed for telerehabilitation applications.
Aayush Chitransh presenting research examining the impact of New Jersey’s Extreme Risk Protection Order law across cities in New Jersey.
Beyond the technical accomplishments, it has been especially rewarding to see these students continue developing as researchers, presenters, and interdisciplinary collaborators.
